Hey folks, we’re getting a lots of feedbacks on our Sky Dancer and wanted to finally share a few details about it, along with some of the thought process that lead to this project. So, here we go!
Sky Dancer is a action running game that takes place in a fantasy-planet setting, where the endless platforms and the horizon mingle with a dash of its beautiful gravity. With this project we were excited to try something a little new for us and for fans of runner. Runner games are something we’ve played a lot of over the years, but we hadn’t tried to make one yet, so it seemed like a natural choice of genre to tackle. That said, there’s a lot of variety within runner games, and we’ve enjoyed everything from Canabalt to Temple Run to Subway Surfers.
When thinking about our inspirations, we realized that these kinds of games tend to follow one of two very different design styles when it comes to your hands, and how easy enjoyable they are. With our "thinking different" tradition, we know we don't want to produce a similar game to Temple Run or Subway Surfers, so
we finally decided to go with the opposite side by choosing a gameplay that's still easy to understand but extremely hard to master! Why?
Like extreme sports, if you can't feel the fear and ready to do it anyway, you'll just can't enjoy it. To play Sky Dancer, you and I need to extremely focus on controlling how the runner will be in the air "to feel the fear", face directly with the scare of heights, risk it all to make a perfect landing. For most of players, you will find the control might be inaccurate, but it's not, you will need to feel the tough of risk condition and dangerous moment - you will need that fear to fully enjoy Sky Dancer. No worry, you don't have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.
So let's just don't give up on Sky Dancer, since Sky Dancer won't give up flying with your wings.
I and the team are working more on the update, a very strong update that will bring most of the greatest/excited features into Sky Dancer, turning a high-score based challenge into a big great adventure for you and also for us.
